Abstract

In this work, a low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) composite based on the eutectic system BaO–ZnO–SiO 2–B 2O 3 is fabricated. The phase formation in the LTCC composite is investigated by XRD, SEM and DSC technologies. Dielectric and thermal properties are discussed in terms of the phase composition. The results indicate that major mineral phases of the LTCC composite are barium silicate, willemite, SiO 2 crystal phases and additional quartz. Due to the peculiar physical characteristics of these mineral phases, the LTCC composite can express different dielectric and thermal properties along with the evolution of the major mineral phases.
