Abstract

Abstract This article offers a new edition of a contract of a loan repayment in the dossier of the family of Herodes, which can now be read in its complete form thanks to the join between P.Fam.Tebt. 9 and P.IFAO III 13. Based on a palaeographical and linguistic analysis of the subscriptions to the contract, an attempt is made to define the level of literacy of the family members involved in the transaction. It is proposed that another papyrus, P.IFAO III 1, belongs to the dossier.
