Abstract
Many COVID-19 patients recover within a few weeks, but some experience symptoms lasting over four weeks, known as post-COVID-19 condition (PCC) or long COVID syndrome. This cross-sectional observational study aimed to determine the prevalence of PCC in Jordan and identify its associated risk factors. Conducted at a tertiary teaching hospital, the study used an online questionnaire targeting patients who sought medical care for COVID-19 between 1 January 2019 and 20 December 2022. The survey included demographic data, medical conditions during infection, and symptoms persisting beyond four weeks (LC28). Among 1834 identified COVID-19 patients, 291 completed the survey. Over two-thirds (70.4%) reported persistent symptoms, with headache (47.4%), muscle pain (45.7%), fatigue (43%), and cough (40.5%) being most common. Female gender and obesity (BMI > 25) significantly increased PCC frequency. PCC is prevalent among Jordanian patients, highlighting the need for increased awareness and adherence to health preventive measures.
