Abstract
Perfluoroisobutylene (PFIB), CAS#: 382–21-8, is the monomer used in the synthesis of Teflon. It has possible (and past) use as chemical warfare agent; that is, it is a schedule 2A substance under the Chemical Weapons Convention. Inhalation is the major exposure pathway, and PFIB is readily absorbed.
