Abstract

This research aimed to draw a profile of the bidders for Electronic Bidding at the Federal University of Vicosa by their characteristics descriptions and possible impacts caused by the expansion of the number of suppliers. For this, it was conducted an exploratory and descriptive research, with quantitative approach, in which 298 questionnaires were applied in companies that participated in biddings at the UFV in 2008. Frequency analyses were performed, descriptive analysis and Pearson test of linear correlation in order to explore the relationships between relevant variables. After the results analysis, it is observed that the Electronic Bidding provided the participation of companies from all around the country, expanding the scope of supply as provided for in several studies. Concerning the experience, most of the bidding companies have more than five years, which demonstrates maturity and market consolidation levels. Among the negative points, highlighting the low participation of companies located in Vicosa municipality and in the region, besides the great concentration of these companies in the capital, to the detriment of the ones located in the interior.
