Abstract

The introduction to computers course has been an important required core course for most college and university business administration graduates. Recent literature has suggested that the foundation course in computers, if not already obsolete, will be of little or no value to college of business administration graduates.More than six hundred business graduates participated in the study. The analysis included an investigation across six different departments, eight different majors, nineteen different initial and current positions, and twelve courses commonly required for business graduates. Results of the study indicated that the business graduates uniformly value the introduction to computers course. When compared to other commonly required business courses, only one (business communications) was perceived as being more valuable than introduction to computers. The results suggest that the introduction to computers course is extremely valuable for business graduates.
