Abstract
Overqualification refers to the fact that an individual has a higher level of education, experience, knowledge, and skills than what is required for the position. This paper adopts an empirical research method to explore the positive role behind employee overqualification. The study looked at how overqualification affects proactive behavior through role breadth self-efficacy and the moderating effect of work autonomy. The results showed that overqualification has a big positive effect on proactive behavior; role efficacy fully mediates the relationship between overqualification and proactive behavior; and work initiative positively mediates the relationship between overqualification and role efficacy. On this basis, countermeasures and suggestions are proposed.
