Abstract

Background: The strength of the limb muscles is one of the factors that determine the quality of the technique in the pencak silat, such as punching, blowing, kicking. The lunges exercise and the resistance band leg press exercise are exercises to increase the strength of the lower limb muscles. Objective:Is there a difference in influence between lunges exercise and resistancebandlegpressexercisetoimprovingthelowerlimbmusclesstrengthonthemember of the pencak silat in the 4 Junior High School of Bekasi. Method: This research is quasi- experimental with the design of research two groups pre-test and post-test. The samples were selected using a purposive sampling technique of 14 people divided into two groups with a total sample of 28 people. Group 1 lunges exercise, in group 2 resistance band leg press exercise, each of the exercise given for 6 weeks with a frequency of 3 times a week, measurement using leg dynamometer. Results: The results of the paired samples t testshowed thatlungesexerciseandresistancebandlegpressexercisecanaffectthestrengthofthelower limb muscles. There is no difference between the effects of the lunges exercise and resistance band leg press exercise of the lower limb muscles strength. Conclusion: Based on the differencevalues,theresistancebandlegpressexercisegrouphadabettereffectonthelower limb muscles strength than lungesexercise.
