Abstract

The mosque serves as an important and secure place in the life of a Muslim. It is not only a place of worship but also a center for religious, educational, and social activities. Another function of the mosque is to serve as a focal point to unite, assist, and gather the community to provide support to fellow Muslims in various aspects of life. For example, in cases involving the death of a husband, women in the state of 'Ihdad (waiting period) may face the loss of a loved one, which usually involves both physical and emotional challenges, impacting their well-being. In such situations, the mosque plays a crucial role in supporting women in 'Iddah to continue their lives. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the efforts made by mosques in safeguarding the welfare of wives experiencing the waiting period after their husbands' death. This qualitative study was conducted by collecting data through document analysis. The study findings indicate that mosques support women in the 'Iddah period by providing financial assistance to alleviate their burdens, as well as visiting the homes of women in 'Iddah. However, the findings also suggest that the mosque's role in supporting women in 'Iddah is crucial not only during the waiting period but also beyond, covering financial assistance, understanding the legal aspects of 'Iddah, moral support, and the well-being of the women. Recommendations for related issues are also presented at the end of the study.
