Abstract

This Article is a study of the history of contemporary political thought and is dedicated particularly to the analysis of the concept of political culture developed by Gabriel Almond and Sidney Verba in work in The civic culture, published in 1963. From this reference , the concept has spread to various areas of knowledge and political culture became one of the most important concepts of the post World War II period. This study aims to analyze the theoretical concepts and practices present in the concept of political culture in its context of origin , so that , on the one hand, it seeks to identify the main intellectual references and theoretical debates that helped to define the term by other hand , aims to analyze the practical implications of the concept , trying to understand the guidelines from concept to post-war policy . In both respects, the concept of political culture of Almond and Verba was an instrument of American hegemony in the context of the Cold War .
