Abstract

The existences of mangrove forests have a positive impact on society. Utilization of mangrove forest ecosystems optimally will generate high economic value. However, the exploitation of natural resources should give priority to the principle of sustainability. Those most frequently interact with mangrove ecosystem is a coastal community. This study examines the correlation effect of the presence of mangrove ecosystems on the socioeconomic conditions of society. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach. A qualitative approach is using interview data collection and observation. The results in this study demonstrate a method Community Base Management is an empowering step in accordance with the characteristics of coastal communities Mangunharjo involving the community in the use and management of mangrove ecosystems.
