Abstract

This study aims to develop and determine the feasibility of teaching materials for short story texts based on strengthening character education using Canva media for class XI Vocational High School students and to find out teacher and students perceptions of short story text teaching materials based on strengthening character education using Canva media for class XI Vocational High School students. The research method used is the Research and Development (RD) method with the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data were collected by interview, observation, needs analysis questionnaire, curriculum analysis, and analysis of teaching materials. Data analysis was carried out by quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results obtained from the development of short story text teaching materials based on strengthening character education using Canva media get an assessment with very good criteria from the results of material expert validation getting an average score of 4,33 with a percentage of 86,67%, media expert validation getting an average score of 4,62 with a percentage of 92,44%, the Indonesian teacher's assessment got an average score of 4,86 with a percentage of 97,22%, and the student response assessment got an average score of 4,53 with a percentage of 90,78%. Thus, it can be concluded that the product of short story text teaching materials based on strengthening character education using Canva media for class XI Vocational High School students is very suitable for use in teaching and learning activities. Keywords: teaching materials, short story texts, strengthening character education, Canva media
