Abstract

It is shown that the Peccei-Quinn mechanism will, in the large-{ital N} limit, remove dimension-six {ital CP}-violating operators constructed solely out of gauge fields. Such operators have been recently proposed as a source of a possibly large neutron electric dipole moment.
