Abstract
The particle dynamics in the rising bubble swarm is dominant in the scrubbing pools to remove the contaminated aerosol/particles. These gas bubbles occurred in the three shapes, spherical for small bubbles, ellipsoidal for median-size bubbles and spherical cap for large bubbles. In this paper, the aerosol particle decontamination in the median-sized rising bubble in the ellipsoidal shape is simulated using the Eulerian-Lagrangian method. The particle flow is traced by Discrete phase method (DPM). The mechanism of particle coagulation/agglomeration and particle decontamination in the elliptical bubbles are investigated with the effect of the bubble dynamics and particle properties from the simulation. The simulated decontamination factors (DFs) of particles in the elliptical bubbles are compared with the DFs of particles in spherical bubbles in previous research [1].
