Palladium-catalyzed amination in the synthesis of novel fluorescent sensors based on 3,3'-diamino substituted 1,1'-bi(2-naphthol)

The first example of palladium-catalyzed Buchwald-Hartwig amination of 3,3'-dibromo-1,1'-bi(2-naphthol) is reported. Linear and macrocyclic derivatives of <em>N</em>,<em>N'</em>-disubstituted 3,3'-diamino-1,1'-bi(2-naphthols) thus obtained are able to detect metal cations when using UV and fluorescence spectroscopy.
