Abstract

Objectives: Beginning in 2014, states began enacting contraceptive mandates, often referred to as “Contraceptive Equity” laws, which prevent insurers from using medical management techniques, like cost-sharing, prior authorization, prescription requirements, gender restrictions, or quantity limitations. This longitudinal study identified state laws that mandate broader contraceptive coverage than the federal requirement under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
