Abstract

On November 6, Election Day, pharmacists and other American voters will be choosing between two starkly divergent visions for health care in this country. President Barack Obama's signature domestic achievement was the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the controversial health care reform law that most Democrats believe is a step in the right direction. Republican challenger Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who oversaw a state health care reform law widely viewed as a model for ACA, has promised to repeal the federal health law if elected. Following are excerpts from this year's Republican and Democratic platforms that describe the party positions on health care reform, Medicare, and Medicaid.
