Abstract
Background: The ovary is a frequent site for the occurrence of neoplastic tumours that could be either benign or malignant.Method: A prospective study of ovarian cyst at a General Hospital in northern Nigeria from October 2005 to November 2006. Clinical case notes ofpatients diagnosed of ovarian cyst were kept and analyzed.Result: 15 patients where diagnosed with ovarian cyst during the period of study. They all presented with abdominal swelling. Surgery was done andpatients recovered post operatively.Conclusion: Early diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cyst is necessary for prevention of complications of ovarian cyst. Definitive diagnosis is madeafter histopathology
