Abstract
Archery was a very important aspect in Turkish history. Examined from a broad perspective archery influenced almost every field from literature to art and from sport to politics. The main axis of the paper is archery and activities in arrow fields.
 Albeit being an important sport especially in the Ottoman classical period, range archery in terms of composition it was a significant subject influential in different social areas such as crafts and literature. The paper in-depth examines the officers serving in range shooting, distance unit, range opening rules, shooting areas, shooting times, participation conditions, categories, competition rules and range competitions.
