Abstract

The author of the article, having studied the creative activity of V.I. Ivanov (1888–1971) and using a conceptual approach to the analysis of his works, reveals a constant commitment of the writer, thinker and journalist to the theme of the East, philosophical and aesthetic foundations of Eastern culture in his fiction and scientific works, as well as, in philosophical journalism. Orientalism, as one of the key concepts of Ivanov's creative activity, which determines the integrity of his heritage, fully reflects the depth and scale of philosophical, ideological and fiction studies of that extraordinary person who went through emigration and retained a deep commitment to Russia. The article presents some analysis of oriental poetry by Vs. N. Ivanov of pre-emigration and emigration period, which is unknown to the Russian reader; essays from periodicals about the Far East of Russia, Russian emigration in China; works of scientific and journalism nature published by him in emigration.
