Abstract

The operation modes of reflective bistable twisted nematic (BTN) liquid crystal displays were analyzed for both front and rear film compensations. The film compensated BTN displays shows rich operation modes. Several typical operation conditions were studied for their wavelength dispersions. The optimum conditions of the film compensated reflective BTN displays could have large values of dΔn compared to those of non-compensated reflective BTN displays.
