Abstract

In an energy distribution network, customers are usually inclined to reduce the energy consumption cost and greenhouse gas emissions. These two concerns led to the prosumer based electricity market. Prosumers are the consumers which actively take part to produce electricity by integrating their renewable energy resources (RERs), battery energy storage system (BESS) and demand response (DR) strategies. This paper proposes a BESS operation strategy considering gas emissions as a key drive indicator to analyze five different energy management scenarios. The Photovoltaic (PV) system is taken as RER as a local generation to reduce carbon print. Furthermore, fixed cost is also calculated for the estimation of the proposed project. Linear programming is used to optimize the scheduling of RERs and BESS in MATLAB. The results show a significant reduction in energy cost and a remarkable decrease in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The results obtained from the simulation of different cases are discussed in detail.
