Abstract
Presently, the grid de-carbonization has attained greater importance in the power distribution networks. In this regard, most of the power utilities are integrating solar distributed generation (SDG) systems so as to provide clean energy. In addition, the SDGs can diminish the system losses and also enhance the voltage magnitudes. However, wrong placement of SDGs in the power distribution networks can decrease the system performance. So, the SDGs must be placed at appropriate locations. This paper proposes the application of exhaustive search technique for optimal placement of a distributed generation in the unbalanced distribution systems. The efficacy of the proposed method has been validated on IEEE 13, and 37-bus unbalanced distribution systems. The power loss of the systems is found to be reduced considerably. Moreover, the voltage profile of these systems is also enhanced.
