Abstract

The properties of the polymeric composite thin films highly depends on the nature of the additives. Usually, nanoparticles of different kinds are added in various concentrations to tune the properties of the composite thin film. In this paper, we studied the effect of a mixture of ZnO and SiO2 nanoparticles on optical properties of PMMA/ZnO/SiO2 composite thin film. We have fabricated composite thin films of 50 µm thickness by solution casting method. The concentration of SiO2 nanoparticles is kept constant at 0.5%, while the concentration of ZnO nanoparticles is varied from 0.5 wt% to 2 wt%. It is observed that the opticalbandgap of the composite thin films decreases with an increase in the ZnO concentration.
