Abstract

This paper investigates appropriate operating points of a Brushless Doubly Fed Reluctance Machine (BDFRM) over a wide speed range. The BDFRM has a ducted rotor and its stator houses two distributed windings which are fed from two separate power converters. Basic background theory is discussed and an example design of the machine is presented for investigation. A control approach to maximize the capability of the given design is discussed. Static structural analysis result of the machine is also presented which led to the final manufacturing of the machine laminations.
