Abstract

PCAC, current algebra and a weak form of the isobaric model of the «current-nucleon amplitude» are used to calculate the subtraction functions to fixed-t dispersion relations for the invariant amplitudes describing pion-nucleon scattering, the scattered particlesnot being taken off their respective mass shells. The expressions so obtained are projected into partial waves and compared with the experimental information in the low-energy region (pion kinetic energy up to 500 MeV). The results are satisfactory.
