Abstract

The article provides the properties of the family of sum codes with on-data bits and one weighted data bit concerning the error detection in data vectors. In comparison with classic Berger codes, the described weighted and modular weighted sum codes have improved error detection characteristics. Also, weighted sum codes, as well as Berger codes, detect any unidirectional errors in data vectors, and thus they may be used for solution of the similar problems of technical diagnostics. Modular weighted sum codes do not detect a certain small part of unidirectional errors, which hat can be taken into account within formation of reliable automation and computer engineering systems.
