Abstract

The thermal annealing of 60Co recoil species was studied in neutron irradiated crystals of cis-[Cr en 2Cl 2][Co glyc 2(NO 2) 2]. nH 2O. It was found that the 60Co recoil species can anneal not only at anionic sites which are occupied by 59Co target atoms, but also at cationic sites, where Cr atoms are situated. Moreover, the isochronal annealing curves of the 60Co recoil species at the cationic and anionic sites are correlated, that is they have the same number of steps which occur at the same temperatures. These results together with those obtained in our previous experiments on Co(III) double complexes and mixed crystals (solid solution) of isomorphous ions, are discussed in terms of the solid state isotopic exchange model for the annealing of atoms recoiled by Szilard-Chalmers effect.
