Abstract
The Strutinsky prescription is studied at finite temperatures. It is found that a statistical approach provides us with a convenient set of explicit expressions for the shell corrections atT‡0. The connection between theT=0 andT‡=0 formalism is discussed in terms of a smooth level density parameter. Asymptotic expressions for the shell corrections are proposed.
