Abstract

This paper attempts to describesthe objectives of the tribology investigation activities on the automotive internal combustion engine with the intent of minimizing friction losses and noise. After an introduction to the most important theoretical and experimental results achieved by various researchers, the mathematical models developed by the authors in relation to the main lubricated components are presented and discussed.
