Abstract
Experimental data on the hyperfine structure in the 4d5s, 4d 2 and 4d5p configurations of the yttrium ion have been analysed by means of the effective operator formalism. The effective radial parameters of the magnetic dipole interaction are determined. A comparison with relativistic calculations gives an estimate of the effects due to configuration interaction.
