Abstract
SummaryElectrophoretic estimation of serum proteins has been carried out in 299 cases of rheumatoid arthritis. The results are compared with the serological reactions, Waaler's test and the Latex test. The value of electrophoresis is chiefly the demonstration of high α2-globulin in an early stage of disease. Only second comes the occurrence of high γ-globulin and low albumin in later stage of disease. Especially when the serological test are negative, the electrophoretic results will be of interest. The possibility of an inhibitor effect in the α2-globulins as explanation of the many negative tests combined with high γ2-globulin is mentioned.
