Abstract

Several aspects of the characterization of mappings representing members of the family of contracted Ricci collineations (FCRC) (i.e. mappings satisfyingg µ λLR µ λ=0) are considered in more detail in this paper than in other recent papers. In particular, the FCRC are suitably characterized in terms of mappings on the linear connection of space-time. In addition, the physical implications of Riemannian space-times admitting timelike FCRC mappings are briefly discussed in relation to an appropriate type of evolution equation and to the concomitant local conservation expressions.
