Abstract
ABSTRACT This work discusses a circuit for simulating general fourth-order linear systems using a single operational amplifier. It enlists ten alternatives offered by a basic circuit configuration comprised of a minimum number of resistors and capacitors. Conditions are worked out in five of these alternatives under which simulation is realizable, and design equations to calculate the values of resistors and capacitors to be used are set forth. The circuit can be extended, by adding more laterally inverted L sections comprised of resistor-capacitor combinations, to simulate higher orders of linear systems using a single operational amplifier. However, in every case simulation is possible only for a restricted range of values of systems-constants.
