Abstract

A one-dimensional mathematical model of water droplet accumulation in ventilation shafts is proposed. Model parameters are determined using the results of a ventilation survey of deep hard rock mines of Norilsk Nickel Company. The formation of drip water in the shaft is simulated not only due to excess moisture condensation, but also due to groundwater inflows through fissures in the shaft lining. A formula is obtained for calculating the pressure drop due to the water build-up. The pressure drop analysis showed that the water build-up has a significant impact on the fan operation only if there are additional groundwater inflows.
