Abstract

This paper examines some works that can be related in some way to the Castilian utopia Omníbona, which has come down to us anonymously in the only surviving testimony. The aim is to make progress in determining the cultural, political and social environment in which the work arose. Some coincidences between Omníbona and works by Erasmus of Rotterdam, Juan Luis Vives, Alejo Venegas del Busto, Bartolomé de las Casas, Gregorio de Pesquera and Juan Bernal Díaz de Luco, among others, are proposed. Finally, the reforming spirit of the latter is particularly close to that of Omníbona.
