Abstract

A 36-year-old dark-skinned female patient attended the oral and maxillofacial surgery service with a complaint of a “lump on the gums.” The patient reported smoking and drinking and no comorbidities. Intraoral examination revealed a nodular, sessile, normochromic, and asymptomatic lesion located in the gingiva around teeth 42 and 43. The panoramic radiograph revealed a well-defined radiolucent image, without root resorption and with discrete thin, bony trabeculae inside. Odontogenic tumors and central giant cell lesion were suggested as diagnostic hypotheses. Incisional biopsy was performed, and the material was sent for histopathologic analysis. The conclusive diagnosis was odontogenic myxoma. The proposed treatment was marginal resection.
