Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic and associated with it changes in the functioning of medical services threatened the observance of patient’s rights in Poland. Taking under consideration the overload of the medical care system in connection with SARS-CoV-2 cases and the GPDR requirements in terms of personal data protection implemented in the year 2018, it seems advisable to state patient’s problems in the field of medical data protection during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study discusses measures of the Pateint’s Rights Ombudsman regarding documentation and medical confidentiality in the years of the pandemic. Based on reports of respecting the patient’s rights for 2020-2022, the number of infringement cases on the protection of medical data was announced and the dynamics of the phenomenon was assessed by comparing the data from the years 2019-2022.
