Abstract

The article deals with a rare observation from forensic medical practice concerning systemic amyloidosis with predominant heart impairment and complex cardiac mechanism of death of a man with a pacemaker and the presence of two competing diseases with a morphological signs of senile cardiac amyloidosis and the phenomena of fatal ventricular fibrillation of the heart. The obtained autopsy and histological data are described, which makes it possible to assess the thanatogenetic picture and partially answer the questions posed to the forensic medical expert. Taking into account the fact that cases of cardiac death with manifestations of cardiac arrhythmias in the presence of artificial pacemakers (permanent pacemakers) are quite common in the practice of pathologists and forensic medical experts, we have carefully reviewed Russian and foreign literature, which allows us to highlight some of the questions that have arisen about the mechanism of death in this case.
