Abstract

This second paper, which corresponds to the year 2007, presents the results of the Chilean section of the Iberoamerican Observatory of Television Fiction (Obitel). This national chapter is part of a major comparative study carried out as a joint work of ten Iberoamerican countries. The results shown here were obtained from a quantitative study of broadcasted hours that considers variables of production, exhibition and format/genre of fiction programs presented on Chilean television in 2007. Those results are the basis for an appropiate measurement of the current stage of development of the fiction industry and for detecting mid- and long-term trends.
