Abstract
This paper aims to elucidate the methodological challenge within research focused on digital humanities, which consists of dealing with the intersection between computational methodologies and methodologies of human sciences, adapting already known methodologies and creating new methods that fit new contexts. For this purpose, we started with the exploratory example of the entries “Conservatism” and “Conservatism on Wikipedia” in an attempt to sketch a map of Brazilian social thought on the web, in which the methodology of network analysis and the theory of social reflexivity were used in order to understand the relationship between Big Data and society. Finally, the collected data from the digital environment in line with the social sciences’ theory point to conservatism as a response to reflexive modernity.
