Abstract

E. C. Foreman of Lowell, Michigan, died January 10. He was born June 5, 1894, at Collingwood, Ontario, Canada, and received an Associate Diploma at the Ontario Agricultural College in 1914, and a B.S.A. degree at the University of Toronto (Ontario Agricultural College) in 1921. In 1921 he was appointed Head of the Department of Poultry at Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University). In the fall of 1924 he became Manager of Grand View Farm in Zeeland, and in 1926 established his own poultry farm at Lowell, Michigan.He developed the Foreman strain of Leghorns and established the “head type selection” technique. His stock won many trophies in egg laying tests throughout the United States. He was active in Record of Performance work, as well as in the State Improvement Association, as a Director and Officer.He received many state and national honors. In 1963, The College of Agriculture.
