Abstract

In recent years, microchannel heat exchangers are intensively used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems as they are super efficient. This paper introduces a microchannel condenser for domestic air conditioners with a simulated model to evaluate its performance using MATLAB results. The model was used to obtain the optimal geometrical, operating and performance parameters for different number of microchannels with various no of passes with different number of tubes per pass for one ton of refrigeration system using R134a as the refrigerant. In this paper simulated results of two phase heat transfer coefficient and two phase pressure drop using the selected correlations are plotted against mass flux, dryness fraction, number of microchannels, number of passes in the condenser, saturation temperature and overall conclusions are made.
