Abstract
The evolution from the traditional surgical tékhne to the current technological surgery is analyzed and the problems raised in this transition are specified. The educational methodology in surgery, the origin of the current surgical training programs of excellence, the problems that arise for learning new technologies, as well as the learning modalities based on simulation and virtual reality are presented. It is concluded that of all available methods, simulation is the current valid way of learning and that it is necessary to establish universal simulation programs in surgical training plans.
