Abstract

Radiation-enhanced and thermal diffusion of carbon into olivine crystals is studied by the nuclear reaction 12C(d,p) 13C and secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) methods, respectively. The diffusivities are found as D rad =1.4–1.8×10 −12 cm 2 s −1 (300–370 K) and D therm=1.0×10 −15 cm 2 s −1 (1100 K).
