Abstract

We synthesized poly(2,8-dibenzothiophene-5,5-dioxide-vinylene-alt-p(m,o)-phenylene-vinylene) (DD-p(m,o)-PPV) by Wittig reaction. The polymers are soluble in DMF, DMSO and NMP. DD-p(m, o)-PPV has absorbance peak ( λ abs ) at 369nm (292nm, 284nm) and PL emission peak appears at 457nm (432nm, 451nm) in DMF solution and 487nm (452nm, 460nm) in film, respectively. The electron affinity of DD-p-PPV is -3.17eV. A single layer LED device (ITO/DD-p-PPV/Al) was fabricated and the threshold voltage is about 12V.
