Abstract
This study examines the effects of transformational and transactional leadership on team member's performance in virtual teams. Trust in leader acts as an important mediator of the effects of transformational leadership on performance. Fifty-three, four-person teams participated in a laboratory study. Results showed the direct and indirect effects of transformational leadership and challenged the assumption about effects of transactional leadership in virtual teams.
