Abstract

At a length of 27 mm and greater, each subsequent varices of Pteropurpura macroptera (Deshayes, 1838) represents one year of growth. Among snails still growing, a single varix is added most frequently during August or September. Reproduction occurs from April to early July. The growth rate in situ and in culture were similar. Egg capsules, embryos and the average number of each per cluster are provided. The diet in culture was exclusively bivalves.
