Abstract

With the help of the nonequilibrium Keldysh diagram technique we rigorously calculate the nonlinear optical susceptibility of a conjugated polymer in the SSH model for the process of Four Wave Mixing (FWM). The result is accurate in the entire frequency range for the arbitray band gap width. Slow relaxation of carriers is taken into account. The result is compared to that for the linearised TLM model. Though the latter neglects many diagrammatic processes incorporated in SSH, the resulting expressions differ by the terms proportional to the square of the ratio of the band gap to the band width, which is often a small correction. The results for Third Harmonic Generation (THG) are reproduced as a limiting case.
