Abstract
Roll-over protective structures (ROPS) are proven to prevent fatalities from heavy mining dump truck roll-over. The nonlinear finite element analysis methodology is utilised to analyse the strength of the ROPS in this paper. Additionally, some rectangular tube's thickness was selected as the design variable. The uncertain material parameters of the cab are treated as intervals and an approximate model between design variables, uncertain variables and objective function was established by the high dimensional model representation based on thin plate spline interpolation. Moreover, by using double-nested genetic algorithm (GA), the deformation and the weight of the ROPS are optimised in this paper. Finally, the optimisation results verify the feasibility and the superiority of the method proposed in this paper.
